Nicole Vargas
Nicole Vargas joined the University of the Pacific volleyball staff for her first season as an assistant coach in January 2013. Vargas is charged primarily with the training and preparation of Pacific's setters as well as taking over other administrative duties for the Tigers. Prior to joining the Tigers, Vargas spent one season as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater, Long Beach State, in 2012. As a four-year starter on the court for the Beach, Vargas engineered the 49ers attack from the middle where she posted 4,695 career assists, fourth best in Long Beach State history. Additionally, Vargas proved herself as an all-around talent as she finished her career 10th all-time with 1,018 digs. As a true freshman, Vargas guided the 49ers to the first of four NCAA Tournament appearances during her career at Long Beach State. Throughout her career, Vargas earned three postseason All-Big West awards, including a pair of first team honors. After graduating from Long Beach State in 2009, Vargas spent two years with the USA national team, and then played professionally with Nantes in France. On the sidelines, Vargas coached club volleyball with Golden West, leading the U16 program, and has also coached instructional camps for over five years.
